o'zan
from chemistry to chemistry of soul
Every journey begins with a single step. Mine began on 19 April 2001.
On that day, in İzmir, I entered the Halveti-Uşşaki path under the guidance of Terzi Baba, Necdet Ardıç. What I thought would be the beginning of my nafs training gradually became the beginning of an entirely different way of seeing myself, the world, and the cosmos.
Through my Terzi Baba's teachings, I came to realize that Tasawwuf (Sufism) is the science of knowing Allah, and that — together with theology — it encompasses every branch of knowledge, from the natural sciences to engineering, from philosophy to sociology and psychology. Qur'an Kerim expresses many sciences through different modes of narration and symbolic patterns of expression. Tasawwuf, in turn, reads these sciences within the understanding of tawḥīd (unity), unveiling the unity among them and connecting them all to Allah.
One of my Terzi Baba's teachings has formed the center of my work ever since that day: The Qur'an descends into the heart.
Once the Qur'an descends into the heart, it begins to speak with you. If one is granted to hear that voice, a door opens in that very moment. That door is the door through which the dervish (seeker) plunges into this realm. The one who speaks behind that door is,
at times I,
at times We,
and at times Hu.
I heard the voice…

They ask me, “What is Sufism?”
I say:
Sufism is love, the love of the Divine.
It is the ancient relationship between the lover and the Beloved.
The lover hears a voice:
“Salām.”
The voice comes from everywhere
No direction, inside, outside
and from the depths of the heart.
The lover asks: “Where are You?”
The Beloved replies: “I am closer to you than your own nafs.”
This call awakens an intense longing to dive into the ocean of Divine love.
And the name of that ocean is Islam.
Sufism is its inner dimension: the path of knowing, purifying, and refining the nafs.
The Qur’an says: “And by the stars they are guided.”
Sufi Astrology is a Qur’an-based symbolic approach to understanding the nafs through the language of the heavens.
The birth chart becomes a symbolic mirror of one’s inclinations, attachments, capacities, and recurring patterns.
Through this symbolic language, the seeker comes to know the nafs, and to draw closer to the Beloved.s.....
